A poem for thought

 This is a short anonymous poem that I found in one of my Bible studies. It rang true in my heart.  I suspect that many of us will feel a connection to some portion of this poem about prayer and a few will feel a connection with all of it. I have been truly blessed and continue to be blessed daily.

I prayed for strength that I might achieve;
I was made weak that I might obey.

I prayed for health that I might do greater things;
I was given infirmity that I might do better things.

I prayed for riches that I might be happy;
I was given poverty that I might be wise.

I prayed for power that I might have the praise of men;
I was given infirmity that I might feel the need of God.

I prayed for all things that I might enjoy life;
I was given life that I might enjoy all things.

I had received nothing that I asked for...
All that I hoped for;

My prayer was answered...
I was most blessed.

I have been weak, sick, poor, and foolish, but through it all I know that I have always been blessed in spite of my failures. I remain a sinner and will until the day I am taken home to my Lord, but I know that I belong to Him and that He has forgiven my sins and blessed me in spite of those sins. Pray for forgiveness of your sins and the sins of others. Then leave the rest to the Lord... He has it all under control. All we have to do is ask Him to forgive us and the rest of our lives will work out according to His plans for us.
