A new post for a New Year

Most Christians will tell you that they are weak, but that the Lord is strong. They say that they will fail, but the Lord will never fail. That is all very true and yet it is all a great big lie that we tell ourselves every day, because it makes us feel better when we do fail. It is our excuse for failing when we have no excuse at all. The real truth is that we are indeed weak, but that we don't have to be weak. If we truly are Christians and we truly give our lives to the Lord then we are not truly weak at all. We have the strength of the Lord inside us and with that strength we not only should, but could easily overcome all obstacles before us. The problem is us! We want to believe that we are weak, but we fail to believe that the Lord is strong. If we walk with true faith and trust in the strength of the Lord then how can we possibly be weak?
We are weak, but God is strong. That simple saying is totally true and yet we make it a lie every day. We do that because we believe in our weakness, but not in God's strength. That is my focus point for the New Year. I will work to remember God's strength is mine to use... if I have the faith to use it for His will rather than my will. Finding that kind of faith may seem to be a big problem for some, but the truth is that it is the greatest of all the things that God has waiting for us to use. Unlimited faith is ours to claim and use... all we have to do is keep our eyes and hearts focused on the Lord. He has more faith available for us to use than any or all of us could ever use. All we must do is keep our eyes on the source of all the strength, power, and faith there ever was or ever will be! The more faith we need and use; the more faith God will give to us. All we have to do is hear and obey.

Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.” Luke 8:18

I know that this short verse may seem out of context to some people, but for me it puts my current thoughts into words perfectly. The question is what do I have in my heart. Do I have a new heart filled with faith or do I have something else? This year I plan to try very hard to listen closely to my Lord when he whispers to me. This year I want to hear what He asks of me and obey His words for my life. That is my focus for the New Year... to hear so that I can obey!
